Program Features:
Informational Session:
Angela Witwer, State Representative will provide workplace violence statistics for the State of Michigan. In addition, Representative Witwer will discuss the government's plan to curb workplace violence.
Marilyn Knight of the Marily Knight Consultants will share workplace violence risk factors and warning signs, national data and statistics, types of workplace violence, available resources for workplace violence services and information, and templates for starting or auditing existing workplace violence prevention programs.
Panel Discussion:
Jerry Dumond (Sparrow), Jon Frost (Marsh), and Olivia Ghislain (Michigan State University Federal Credit Union) will facilitate a panel discussion. Panelists will share their insights and perspective on various topics including:
*Elements of their Workplace Violence Prevention Program (i.e. key cards, badges, security personnel)
*Challenges and successes of their Workplace Violence Prevention Programs
*Lessons learned while implementing their Workplace Violence Prevention Programs
*How the Workplace Violence Prevention Program is socialized within their organization
*Most common type of workplace violence experienced in their organization
Active Violence Incident Team
Lt. Brooks and the Eaton County Sheriff's Department will present Active Violence Incident training. The training covers information that includes how to care for the injured and prevent deaths in an active violence incident, what to expect from the dispatcher when reporting a violent occurrence, and what to expect from law enforcement during a violent incident.
